I
started my floristry career as a Saturday girl at 14 working
at Stubbings Florists in Aylesbury. From there it was a natural
progression to a full-time floristry position.
When
Stubbings closed I moved to another local florist. Whilst
there I attended an Interflora Wedding Floristry Course and
won first place in the end of course 'Design a Wedding Bouquet'
competition.
In the years that
followed I moved to a variety of different shops gaining knowledge
and experience on the way, my speciality being wedding floristry.
For
eight years I was senior florist at the distinguished flower
shop at Woburn in Bedfordshire, a shop which specialised in
wedding and function floristry. While there I helped to organise
and contribute to many prestigious events at venues such as
Woburn Abbey, St. James's Palace, Stowe School, Blenheim Palace
and the Ritz, Savoy and Grosvenor House Hotels in London.
During
my floristry career I have been privileged to design and create
bouquets which have been presented to the Princess Royal at
the opening of the new cancer unit at Stoke Mandville Hospital,
Princess Margaret, Dame Cleo Laine, and Ffion Hague at the
Conservative Blue Ribbon Dinner. I have also helped to design
and organise the floral arrangements for events hosted by
Sir Christopher Chatterway and Lord and Lady Tavistock.
In August 2003
I left my position at the flower shop at Woburn to start my
own business and Meadow Flowers and Hire Services was born.
I work beside but independently of the established Meadow
Marquees - a successful marquee hire company.
I am specialising
in wedding and function floristry and banqueting hire service
which offers a comprehensive selection of items. These include
classic white Churchill and Dudson china, Kings pattern cutlery,
Fiori glassware, and pure cotton/damask table linen. Everything
you could possible need for a elegant function. I use only
the best quality flowers from Dutch and English suppliers.
I can also organise balloons and recommend caterers.
I
now have a large and growing customer base and am equally
happy organising a small village wedding or a larger scale
function such as table centre arrangements for 200 people
at the 50th Anniversary of the Guild of Air Traffic Controllers.
